- Duration: 3 days (24 teaching hours)
- Focus: 70% practice, 30% theory
- Target group: technicians, mechanics and experienced operators who want to retrain
- Outcome: participants gain the skills to maintain, diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults on robotic lines
Day 1 — Fundamentals, mechanics and preventive maintenance
Theory:
- The mechanic's role — the bridge between operator and engineer.
- Industrial robot architecture: axes, gearboxes, servo motors, bearings, cables, grippers.
- Types of grippers (pneumatic, hydraulic, electric).
- Industrial safety: LOTO, PPE, securing the robot.
- Preventive maintenance: inspections, lubrication, tightening joints, gripper maintenance.
Practice:
- LOTO procedure on a cell.
- Removing and installing a gripper/end effector.
- Changing the grease on an axis/gearbox.
- Visual inspection for wear (backlash, leaks, cracked cables).
Day 2 — Diagnostics and troubleshooting
Theory:
- Typical mechanical problems: vibration, noise, backlash, inaccurate positioning.
- Alarms of mechanical origin ("motor overheat", "overspeed", "position error").
- Using documentation: exploded views, manuals.
- Basics of alignment and calibration.
Practice: simulated faults (loose belt, damaged pneumatic cylinder, worn bearing), replacing seals, bearings and cables, using a torque wrench and a backlash indicator.
Day 3 — Electrical components, integration and exam
Theory:
- Basic electrical components: cables, connectors, sensors.
- Using a multimeter: checking voltage, resistance, continuity.
- Calibration (mastering) after repair.
- Teamwork and communication with operators and engineers.
- Documentation: filling in reports, maintenance logs, ordering spare parts.
Practice: checking cables with a multimeter, replacing a faulty sensor, calibrating an axis after a gearbox replacement, integration with peripherals (conveyors, linear guides).
Final exam: theoretical part (20%) — a test on safety, maintenance and diagnostics; practical part (80%) — a "work order" with a simulated fault: LOTO, diagnosis, repair, restart, completing the report.
Overall split: Day 1 — theory 75% / practice 25%; Day 2 — theory 40% / practice 60%.
Who is the course for?
- Technicians and mechanics who want to specialize in industrial robotics.
- Experienced operators who want to retrain in mechanical maintenance.
- People with basic mechanical knowledge and an interest in robotic lines and automation.
- Anyone who wants practical skills for the safe maintenance, diagnosis and repair of robots and peripherals.
What will you learn?
After completing the course, participants will be able to:
- Understand the mechanic's role and responsibilities in a production environment.
- Recognize and work with the mechanical components of industrial robots: axes, gearboxes, servo motors, bearings, cables, grippers.
- Know the types of grippers and how to maintain them.
- Carry out preventive maintenance: inspections, lubrication, tightening joints.
- Diagnose typical mechanical problems: backlash, vibration, noise, inaccurate positioning.
- Read and work with alarms from robots and peripherals.
- Use documentation and technical manuals.
- Align and calibrate mechanical components.
- Work with electrical components: cables, connectors, sensors, multimeter checks.
- Follow safety procedures (LOTO, PPE) and complete maintenance and repair documentation.
